Smart URL Redirect Manager Plugin Documentation

Overview

Smart Redirect Manager is a powerful NopCommerce plugin that intercepts incoming HTTP requests and checks the request path against a database-persisted redirect rule table. When a match is found, it immediately issues the configured redirect (301, 302, 303, 307) before the request reaches the NopCommerce routing pipeline. It also supports response-only codes — returning 204, 403, or 404 directly without performing any redirect

Request URL

• Dynamic URL placeholders (Target URL) : Where the user is sent, stored as Destination Url. Used for redirect-type responses like 301, 302, 303, 307.
Use these only in Target URL:

·       {removeFirst}: removes first segment from request path.

·       {lastSegment}: takes last segment from request path.

Examples:

·       Source: /old/*, Target: /new/{lastSegment}, Request: /old/product-1 -> /new/product-1

·       Source: /shop/*, Target: /catalog/{removeFirst}, Request: /shop/cat/item -> /catalog/cat/item

• Redirect Type : The incoming path to match, stored as SourceUrl. Example: /old-page. It matches against the request path, not the full domain.

• Match Type : How the request URL is compared. Exact means full path match; Prefix means starts-with behavior and is also required for * wildcard patterns.

• Case sensitive : If enabled, /Sale and /sale are treated as different paths. If disabled, matching is case-insensitive.

• Active : Main on/off switch for the rule. If off, the middleware ignores it completely.

• Display order : Priority. Lower values run first; if multiple rules could match, the first matching active rule wins.

• Comment : Internal admin note only, stored as Note. It’s for documentation and does not affect redirect behavior.

• Preserve query strings : if enabled, the original request query string is appended to the target URL. Example: /old?id=5 -> /new?id=5.

• Store: limits the rule to a specific store. 0/All means all stores; otherwise it only applies to the selected store.

• Active From / Active Until: Active From / Active Until: Scheduling window for the rule. The rule only works during that date range. Before Active From, it is scheduled but inactive. After Active Until, it is expired and skipped.

Important detail on the date fields:

·       They are only shown if the plugin setting EnableDateRange is turned on.

·       In the form, the admin must also enable AddDateRange.

·       In the current validator, if AddDateRange is checked, both Active From and Active Until are required, and Active Until must be later than Active From.

You can see error log from the 404 Error log section and export to csv.you can also convert  any  of the 404 error log to redirect rule

Goto NopStation > Redirect manager > 404 Error Log
