The nopStation Google Address Autocomplete Plugin uses Google Places to instantly suggest addresses as customers type, auto-filling Address Lines, City, Zip, Country, and State. This reduces typing, minimizes errors, and speeds up checkout across standard checkout, one-page checkout, My Account, and admin pages. All Google API requests are processed securely through your server to protect credentials.

Configuration Options
Settings are grouped into four cards: General, Locations, Search, and Advanced.
· General: Enable plugin, Master switch. When disabled, autocomplete does not run anywhere.
· API provider: Currently Google (read-only). The architecture supports future providers.
· API key: Your Google Places API key. Stored in settings; used for server-side autocomplete and place detail requests.
· Verify: Tests the API key with a sample request. A green check mark means the key works. Fix key or Places API enablement if verification fails.
Locations
Control where autocomplete is active and how Address line 1 is positioned on the form.
· Enable in checkout: Turns on autocomplete for both billing and shipping address forms during checkout (standard and one-page checkout).
· Enable in my account pages: Turns on autocomplete when customers add or edit addresses under My account.
· Enable in admin pages: Turns on autocomplete when staff create or edit a customer address in the admin panel.
· Place address line 1 before field: Moves the Address line 1 row so it appears immediately before the field you select in the dropdown. The dropdown lists only address fields that are currently enabled in your store’s address form settings (e.g. Country, City, Company, Email). Default is usually Country. Use this so customers pick an address before choosing country/state, or to match your preferred form layout.
Search
Fine-tune how and when suggestions are requested from Google.
· Restrict search to selected country: When enabled, autocomplete only returns addresses in the country already selected on the form. Recommended when customers must choose country first. When enabled, Use geolocation data is ignored.
· Use geolocation data: Uses the customer’s browser location (with permission) to bias suggestions toward nearby addresses. Only applies when country restriction is off. Timeout is short so checkout is not blocked if the user denies location.
· Minimum characters: Number of characters the customer must type before the first search runs (default: 3).
· API debounce delay (ms): Wait time after the customer stops typing before calling Google (default: 300 ms). Higher values reduce API usage; lower values feel more responsive. Allowed range: 100–10000 ms.
· Max suggestions: How many suggestions to show (1–5). Google’s Autocomplete API returns at most 5 results per request; this setting only limits how many of those are displayed.
Advanced
· Enable logging: Writes diagnostic messages to the system log when Google returns errors (e.g. denied key, quota). Use temporarily when troubleshooting.
· Cache API responses: Caches repeated search queries on the server to reduce Google API calls and speed up typing.
· Cache duration (minutes): How long cached search results are kept. Only applies when caching is enabled.
