Background Story

MAS Direct Network is a leading software provider dedicated to serving the floral industry. With more than 150 years of combined floral and technological experience, their purpose has remained unchanged to enable florists of all sizes to succeed by using easy, feature-rich floral business management systems. The flagship product they offer is Florafire fully integrated POS and floral business management solutions that was born from deep industry experience and constant innovation.

Florafire is a SaaS platform that respects floral business users. Subscribers are offered a pre-configured environment in which they can run their point-of-sale along with numerous order types, customer and employee data, payroll, delivery tracking, order fulfillment, accounting, and other systems, thereby altering how florists conduct their everyday business activities.

Nevertheless, the existing ‘Legacy Console based application’ is operationally sound but not scalable, performant and cannot be integrated with new technologies of the cloud-native environment. This left a burning desire to initiate technological change.

Challenge at a Glance

The decision to migrate was not only technical, it was strategic. MAS needed to reposition its product to meet the expectations of today’s florists and tomorrow’s growth plans. Key Challenge included:

  • A console-based application that is not aligned with modern usability expectations, inconsistent layout, poor navigation, lack of hierarchy.

Legacy system overview

  • Outdated legacy codebase made it hard to extend or maintain
  • Weak integration capabilities with Wire Service APIs (FTD, Teleflora, Bloomnet, FSN)
  • Support seamless third-party integrations (e.g., credit cards, geolocation, accounting systems)
  • Inability to support standalone real-time delivery tracking, visualization and route optimization features
  • Manual workflows for order management, inventory, and customer invoicing
  • Manual reconciliation of wire service orders
  • Lack of real-time mobile delivery updates and signature/photo proof
  • Scaling and mapping across multiple stores, registers, and order and delivery personnel
