Vitacare is a subsidiary of Vitalac Dairy & Food Industries Ltd. and a leading supplier & retailer of nutrition & health-based products in Bangladesh. They are a merchant-first nutraceutical business committed to delivering quality, accessibility, and trust through a robust eCommerce ecosystem. Their mission is to empower local businesses and merchants by enabling seamless digital experiences for both sellers and buyers. With thousands of active users and a rapidly growing presence in the nutrition & health industry, Vitacare is a growing regional nutraceutical business with technology-driven efficiency and hyper-local personalization.

Challenges

Vitacare partnered with nopStation to take a major leap in their digital journey by building a complete eCommerce ecosystem — including a website, mobile app, and delivery app — tailored to their merchant-centric business model. To ensure a seamless customer experience while keeping their unique operational flow intact, we worked closely with the Vitacare team to understand their goals, structure, and day-to-day challenges. Through this collaboration, we identified several core development needs:

Enabling Hyper-Local Store Search Across All Regions: The company has a merchant-based system in which each of these merchants is allocated geographic territories and is involved in all the processes of stock control, order fulfillment. They required customer experience that gave a simple way to find merchants in the neighborhood of a customer and shop with them easily in order to support this structure. How to create a system that can support this hyper-local way and is also possible to filter by division, district, and city so that the customer would always be connected to a right merchant?

Flexible and targeted discount system: Vitacare needed a powerful discounting mechanism that would enable them to conduct promotions with regards to the type of products, category of products they would want to promote, order quantity or user activity (such as on first purchase). They also required the assistance of OTP-based mobile number verification to avail some discounts and features of coupon code, limited availabilities and customizable percent discount or fixed value with the specific start and end dates.

Expanding Reach Through a Mobile App Experience: Vitacare was only available online before and could not benefit users who want to conduct business through mobile-first. With the ever-increasing consumption rates of smartphones, they have required a special mobile application in order to provide an expanded customer base and the feature to shop in a more convenient, simplistic manner, straight out of their phones.

Enabling Efficient Delivery Operations: Vitacare had to confront the problem of having an efficient delivery process that provides real-time shipment information. They required a mobile-centric system with dedicated application on their part which would enable various employees who will carry out deliveries to be registered, and have the assigned deliveries on the system as well as track the location of the customer and also be updated on the status of the delivery at the same time as having constant contact with the central administration system and the delivery verification being made.

Simplifying customer registration & onboarding: Most of the users in their area do not have an email account and thus they wanted the process of registration to be mainly via the use of phone numbers and OTP. They also needed to be supported by external authentication by use of Facebook & Google.

Elevating UX with a Responsive and Optimized Storefront:Vitacare wanted a modern storefront that truly reflected their brand — mobile-optimized, SEO-friendly, fast-loading, and designed to deliver a smooth, intuitive shopping experience across all devices.

Flexible image management with performance optimization:The major challenge was efficiently uploading the large product image data without decreasing the storefront performance speed, including the format processing, loading, and storage on the external resource.

Providing Real-Time Order Status Transparency: Vitacare was missing a robust order management solution to ensure that customers were kept in the loop during the order process as well as automatic and real-time status notifications that they could see on their account dashboard.

Enabling Flexible Order Management & Post-Purchase Feedback: They required a powerful backend interface in which admins would be in a position to update orders, alter prices, append internal or customer-facing remarks and create bills. Also, they planned to ask customers to leave reviews on every purchase in order to advance their level of service delivery.

Solution

To address the needs, our team at nopStation formulated a comprehensive development plan. We utilized nopCommerce and a plugin-driven development process for the core development. For the UX, we used one of our custom themes as a base and applied extensive customizations on top. For the mobile app, we leveraged our Flutter-based mobile app to ensure a common codebase across Android and iOS while implementing necessary UX and feature adjustments. Some of key highlights of our development include:

Building a Hyper-Local Merchant Discovery Experience: In the case of Vitacare and its merchant-centric model, we have utilized nopStation Store Locator plugin to their platform, aligning to their model and way of life. This enabled the customers to be able to search about local merchants with filters of state and city, which provided a convenient hyper local discovery. The solution also made sure the users would always connect to the appropriate merchant in their area, and within the zones of operation of Vitacare, with enhancing regional accessibility and increased accuracy of order fulfillment in Bangladesh.

Creating a mobile first shopping experience through Flutter Storefront App:In addition to the eCommerce web solution, we also crafted a mobile first solution through our flutter mobile app for nopCommerce. The app was crafted with cross platform technologies to ensure a single code base across Android and iOS alongside a modern, minimalistic design that complements the web app. This app brings the same features as the ecommerce solution and helped Vitacare increase their consumer present on Android and iOS.

Streamlined Sign-Up with OTP & Social Login:To address the onboarding simplicity requirement set by Vitacare, we have configured phone number-based registration with OTP verification as the main means of registering, thus removing the email reliance problem. We also added the ability to use external ways to log in with Facebook and Google, and, in doing so, a user can seamlessly create a profile in only a couple of taps or log into an existing account. This assisted them in establishing a more inclusive and quicker onboarding experience that was specific to their customers.

Crafting a Storefront UX and theme aligned with Vitacare’s brand: We wanted to create a unique storefront theme which is consistent with the brand look and feel of Vitacare and the expectation of their customers; and this is what we did. We included visual feature such as Deal Carousel in highlighting products and promotions.

Enhancing content management and SEO through VitaTain feature: To enable easier spatially of content and SEO, VitaTain plugin facilitated ease of managing content. To streamline the checkout process at the finish line, we also allowed a single page checkout- this shortened the whole shopping process and made it smoother and more pleasant.

Showcasing merchant network through Dealer zone & store locator:To better highlight their growing merchant network and market presence across Bangladesh, we implemented a dealer zone section on the homepage that showcases the dealer count by State. To add a personal touch to each state, their admins can configure images for each state to showcase key landmarks and imagery.

After clicking the state, the customer can see the various dealers in that state present on the maps section in the store locator. This helps customers easily find the dealers stores easily through maps while also giving them an idea on coverage in their state. This also helps Vitacare highlight their growing merchant network and bring people onboard new merchants to expand their reach across States.

Optimizing merchant-based order management: To support Vitacare zone-based merchant model, we implemented a system where orders are routed directly to the responsible merchant based on the customer’s location. Each merchant can manage their product inventory and fulfillment process. This process ensures faster order handling, more accurate stock control, and smoother operations—tailored to the unique needs of each region Vitacare serves.

Simplifying last-mile delivery with a DMS app: To support the process of last-mile delivery, we created our own Delivery Management System (DMS) mobile application to be used by the delivery staff of Vitacare. In this application, delivery agents can enter, log in, receive assigned deliveries and change the status update in real-time. Together with the administration panel, the app seals the gap between the shipment appointment and the successful completion of the process fulfilling the whole flow of the process.

Hyperlocal checkout personalization with pickup facility:We optimized the checkout process by incorporating personalization options while maintaining a simple and fast checkout flow, increasing conversion rates. We also added support for order-capacity based on hyperlocal warehouse, letting their admins easily configure slots. When a slot reaches its capacity of order it is hidden, and customers can only choose from available slots. This helped streamline their logistics and order processing workflow.

Adding discounts for nth order & specific phone number: To meet Vitacare’s need for tailored promotions, we utilized nopCommerce’s nth order discount feature to enable first purchase offers. Alongside this, we implemented mobile number-based discount eligibility by referencing a pre-defined customer list. Vitacare’s can now run highly specific campaigns—whether based on product, category, or cart value—using configurable options like percentage or fixed discounts, coupon codes, usage limits, and start/end dates to drive customer engagement and conversions.

Results

With our tailored digital solutions, Vitacare successfully modernized its operations and customer experience while extending its presence across web and mobile platforms. This transformation not only improved usability and merchant coordination but also positioned Vitacare for scalable future growth. Key outcomes include:
