Telecom Easy Group has been supplying high-quality new, refurbished, and used networking equipment and spare parts worldwide since 2006. They simplify procurement by maintaining a large inventory to meet the needs of various industries, including telecom operators, ISPs, data centers, energy, aviation, railways, defense, maritime, satellite communication, OEMs, and enterprises of all sizes.

Challenges

  1. Outdated version of nopCommerce: Telecom Easy's website was running on nopCommerce 3.9, an outdated version with performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities.
  2. Custom entity for business sectors: Telecom Easy wanted to categorize products based on different business sectors, allowing customers to find products relevant to their industry.
  3. Unintuitive filtering: Customers needed better filtering options to find the right products.
  4. Complicated checkout process: Their previous checkout process was quite cumbersome, leading to poor customer experience.
  5. Adding support for product quotations: Allowing customers to request quotes for bulk orders.
  6. Redesigning the contact us process: They wanted the chat to be more streamlined and to incorporate all their communication channels.

 

Solution

Leveraging a plugin development-driven approach, nopStation successfully added new features and enhancements:

The site was successfully migrated from nopCommerce 3.90 to nopCommerce 4.50. All existing product data, customer information, and order history were preserved during the upgrade. The upgrade to nopCommerce 4.50 helped to improve caching, rendering speeds, and database performance.

To align the website with Telecom Easy’s brand vision, a fully customized theme was developed based on their provided mock-ups, ensuring a clean, modern, and visually appealing UI. Implemented UX optimizations, including clear call-to-action buttons, streamlined product categories, and ensured an easy-to-navigate layout. This resulted in a visually enhanced, conversion-optimized storefront that improved the overall shopping experience.

To address the need for industry-based product categorization, a custom “Business Sector” entity was developed, allowing each product to be assigned a relevant sector. Extended product import/export functionality enabled bulk updates and seamless product management. This helped Telecom Easy streamline its product organization, making it easier for businesses to find industry-specific products.

To improve product discovery, a custom AJAX filtering system was developed that enabled real-time filtering without reloading the page. This resulted in a more engaging and efficient browsing experience, leading to better product discoverability.

Nets Easy Payment Plugin was used, offering customers a fast and secure checkout process with multiple payment options. DHL Shipping Plugin was added, automating shipping calculations and providing accurate delivery estimates. A One-Page Checkout Plugin and a Quote Cart Plugin were implemented, minimizing steps required to complete a purchase and enabling businesses to request price quotes for bulk purchases.
